Seats for Forklifts Milwaukee - The city of Milwaukee; Wisconsin is the 28th most populous city within the country and the biggest in the state. The city of Milwaukee is the 39th most heavily populated metropolis within the nation and is situated on the southwestern seashore of Lake Michigan. It is the county seat of Milwaukee County.

According to the Census of the year 2010, the population of the city of Milwaukee was 594,833. The Milwaukee-Racine-Waukesha Metropolitan Area had a population in 2010 of 1,751,316. Milwaukee is the main economic and cultural hub of the area and is the regional center of the 7 county Greater Milwaukee Area. In the year 2008, this region had an estimated population of 2,014,032.

The region was initially inhabited by a lot of different Native American tribes until a French-Canadian fur trader established the first trading post in 1795. The region that comprised the city was originally established by 3 different men during the years 1833 and 1834. The 3 towns were incorporated as Milwaukee during the year 1846. The name of the city was derived from the Indian word "Millioke." Depending on the interpretation, the word for Milwaukee means "pleasant or beautiful lands," "gathering place by the water," or "the good land."

The first Europeans to pass through the region were French missionaries and fur traders who passed into the region known as present day Milwaukee. The French-Canadian explorer, Solomon Juneau settled within the area during 1818. In 1846, the township of Juneau combined with 2 neighboring towns and became incorporated as the City of Milwaukee. In the 1840s, large numbers of immigrants including Germans helped increase the population of Milwaukee at that time and the decades which followed.

Milwaukee was once mainly recognized as a manufacturing and brewing powerhouse. Milwaukee's image has changed with the decline of industry within most of the States. There have been numerous new additions to the economy during the past decade. Like for example, the Milwaukee Art Museum is now home to Miller Park, which is a globally renowned addition to the museum. The Frontier Airlines Center, Milwaukee Riverwalk and the Pier Wisconsin are some of the newest developments. There has been a dramatic increase in the construction of apartments, lofts and condominiums, together with skyscrapers being constructed within the neighborhoods bordering the lakefront and the riverbanks.

The city of Milwaukee was originally known as a beer town due to its location of 4 of the biggest breweries within the globe. These breweries were Miller, Pabst, Blatz and Schiltz. Currently, only Miller remains within the city. The city of Milwaukee is still a big manufacturing community. Roughly more than 20 percent of the population is working in manufacturing companies. This figure is a lot higher compared to the national average. Some of the major industry segments in the city of Milwaukee include: Tourism, Publishing and Printing, Healthcare, Manufacturing, High Technology and Financial Services.

The city earned the nickname of "the City of Festivals," as it hosts a variety of festivals each year. Popular festivals consist of: CajunFest, the Great Circus Parade, the Holiday Folk Fair, Bastille Days, the Wisconsin State Fair, Summerfest, Irish Fest, Polish Fest, Mexican Fiesta, German Fest, Festa Italiana and the Holiday Folk Fair.
