Seats for Forklifts Reno - Reno (population around 220,500) is a city in the state of Nevada, the second most heavily populated city in the state next to the city of Las Vegas. The city of Reno serves as the county seat of Washoe County. Reno is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains within a desert valley. Reno is near the city of Sparks. The Reno-Sparks metropolitan area, called Truckee Meadows by residents, has a population of approximately 400,000.
Recognized as the "Biggest Little City in the World", Reno's name has become synonymous with gambling, gaming, and casinos. Harrah's Entertainment, which is a giant gaming corporation, had its beginning in the city. Tourism in the main business within Reno, with over five million guests on a yearly basis. Pioneers first settled within the Truckee Meadows as early as the 1850s, attracted to this valley fed by water from the Truckee River flowing down from Lake Tahoe. Adventurers traversing the California Trail stopped here as they followed the Truckee River westward towards the Sierras. Gold was discovered during the middle part of the nineteenth century, followed immediately by the discovery of silver, that caused a mining rush.
The city has a well-developed arts scene with collections being held at the Nevada Museum of Art and the Stremmel Gallery. The downtown Reno Art District is the place to find galleries, shops, coffeehouses and restaurants. The Historic Reno Preservation Society provides tours of ancient rock art sites and other historic places. Reno's cultural and artistic organizations consist of the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Reno Chamber Orchestra, the Nevada Opera, the Broadway Comes to Reno series and community theaters. A well-regarded cooking school, Nothing To It Culinary Center, offers classes.
Each year, the city of Reno hosts community events like for instance the classic car convention referred to as Hot August Nights and Street Vibrations, a motorcycle rally and fan gathering. There is even the Reno Air Races, the Great Reno Balloon Race, the Cinco De Mayo celebration, the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off in the city of Sparks, and bowling tournaments.
