 Seats for Forklifts Mesquite - The city of Mesquite, Texas is situated around 12 miles away from the city of Dallas. Mesquite City is a mid-sized city in north central Texas. The city gets its name from the Mesquite Creek that flows through the city. It is situated near the crossroads of Interstate Highways I-30 and I-635 on U.S. Route 80. Balch Springs lies towards the south and Garland City is located to the north. The city of Mesquite is known as the "Rodeo Capital of Texas" as it hosts the Mesquite Championship Rodeo annually.
In the year 1873, the Texas and Pacific Railway was established. The city of Mesquite was incorporated immediately after during 1887. The city of Mesquite began to expand little by little with cotton being its primary trade. In a twenty year span, from the years 1950 to 1970, the population rapidly increased from less than 20,000 individuals to 50,000 residents. The cities expansion was due mainly in part to the growth of the neighboring Dallas City. To be able to help preserve the city's culture and heritage, the city of Mesquite established the Mesquite Historical Commission in the 1980's. The name has ever since been changed to the Historic Mesquite, Inc., and is presently working on numerous projects like a historical park.
mesquite was founded on the 22nd of May, the year 1873, along the Texas & Pacific rail lines just outside of Dallas, by an engineer of the Texas & Pacific Railway. The population of the city began to grow more quickly after the train, that ran from Dallas to Shreveport, started to stop within the little town. On December 3, 1887, the city of Mesquite was officially incorporated.
Mesquite's economy has been largely based on farming and agriculture. Cotton, hay, sugar and corn were the main products being grown. The railway provided a great way to ship these raw goods. The cities economy remained focused on agriculture until shortly after the second World War. Mesquite prospered, and its population rose from 1,696 during the year 1950 to approximately 55,131 in 1970.
Situated in the city are numerous unique attractions. The Mesquite Championship Rodeo is amongst the most highly anticipated event of the year. It has run annually ever since the year 1958 and is televised all around the nation. One more of Mesquites premiere attractions is the Mesquite Arts Center which is home to over 16 arts organizations like for instance the Mesquite Community Theatre, the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, the Mesquite Community Band, and a local art gallery. The Rodeo City Music Hall, a family-friendly facility, offers all kinds of entertainment intended for all ages. Between the months of March and November the Devil's Bowl Speedway hosts an assortment of action-packed competitions which racing fans flock to attend. Some of the historic places in Mesquite City are the Florence Ranch Homestead, that dates back to the late 1800's, and the Texas Queen. The Texas Queen is a double deck paddle wheeler which serves as a popular location for special events.
Being close to Forth Worth and Dallas, Mesquite Citythe city of Mesquite is near other popular attractions, like for instance Fair Park, the Dallas Arboretum Botanical Garden, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Zoo, Dallas World Aquarium and Rainforest, Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic Districts, The Sixth Floor Museum, the West End Marketplace and the Six Flags Over Texas.
A lot of the nearby cities have popular sports teams associated with them. Arlington is home to the Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers and Irving is home to the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Dallas Stars.
