The Tampa native peoples were the original residents of the region, whereas the Tocobaga were the most recent tribal inhabitants within the Tampa region. There are lots of fine museums in Tampa, including Pioneer Florida Museum, the Salvador Dali Museum, Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins, St. Petersburg Museum of History, Boatyard Village, the Children's Museum of Tampa and the Gulf Coast World Science. The Tampa Theatre and the Tampa Bay performing Arts Center have various excellent performances. Live theater is also staged at the Gorilla Theatre within Drew park and Friday Morning Musicale within Hyde Park. Leading galleries consist of African Art gallery, the Centre Gallery, Graphicstudio, Artists Unlimited and Covivant Gallery.
The city of Tampa, may be the most diverse urban region within the nation. 10% of residents are Latino and local culture is heavily influenced by this large Hispanic population.
Other than tourism, main industries within the Tampa Bay area comprise avionics, marine and defense electronics, information and business services, financial services, port/maritime, manufacturing and marine sciences. The Tampa Bay region economy is significantly impacted by three seaports situated here. The Port of Tampa is the 12th largest cargo port within the nation. Key cruise lines operate from this particular port. The seaports employ approximately 130,000 people. In total, these ports contribute roughly $15 billion dollars per year to the local economy.
