 Seats for Forklifts West Valley City - The city called West Valley City, Utah is a suburb of the city of Salt Lake and is located within the county of Salt Lake. Currently, the city of West Valley supports a population of nearly 130,000. Before the city of West Valley was incorporated in 1980, the region comprised four separate communities: Granger, Hunter, Redwood and Chesterfield. The USANA Amphitheatre and Maverik Center are situated within West Valley City.
The first known residents of the Salt Lake Valley area, are the Ute and Shoshoni Native American tribes.
In 1849, the Welsh Latter-day Saints and Dan Jones arrived to Utah and settled the Granger region. Agriculture quickly prospered and irrigation systems were developed. Elias Smith proposed the name of the area due to it's successful farming. Sometimes, high alkali content made farming near impossible. In the year 1884, the Latter-day Saints split their group into two and formed a separate Granger Ward.
Soon after the four communities of Granger, Hunter, Chesterfield and Redwood were incorporated as West Valley City a petition rose against them attempting to get rid of the new city. The campaign was successful to the extent that it convinced the state's court system to order a disincorporation election which took place three months after the city of West Valley was incorporated. The election was really close, with a mere 72 votes that decided the outcome of West Valley City. During the last 20 years, the city has thrived and continues to prosper and grow.
The city of West Valley hosts many cultural and music shows within the Utah Cultural Celebration Center within West Valley City. One more popular attraction is the E Center, that was built during the year 1997 and played host to the 2002 Winter Games. The Rocky Mountain Raceway, the USANA Amphitheater, and the Hale Centre Theatre are some of the other attractions that are located in West Valley City. Salt Lake City also has various attractions, such as the Off Broadway Theatre, that is renowned for its comedy shows, Ballet West, which is one of the leading ballet companies in the United States, Wheeler Historic Farm, which is home to a historic farm house, and the Capitol Theatre, that is home to the Utah Opera Company and was constructed in 1913. Amongst the other famous locations within the area are the Clark Planetarium, the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, Trolley Square, Heber Valley Historic Railroad, Utah's Hogle Zoo, Lagoon Amusement Park, Utah Opera Company; The Utah Symphony; Sandy City Amphitheater; Salt Lake Art Center, The Children's Museum of Utah, Fort Douglas Military Museum, Pioneer Memorial Museum, Utah Museum of Fine Arts, the USANA Amphitheatre and Utah Museum of Natural History.
