The neon lighting displays on Fremont Street was the reason why the street was referred to as Glitter Gultch.
Las Vegas has a number of entertainment museums such as the Guinness World of Records Museum, the Liberace Museum and the Elvis-a-Rama Museum. The strip provides not just cheap type of entertainment run by hotels, but shows by amongst the top names in the music business. Art lovers could see collections of Picassos and other artists displayed within lobbies of hotels. The Las Vegas Art Museum is a branch of the Guggenheim.
Las Vegas has neither state nor city taxes, a factor that has boosted development considerably. The city of Las Vegas now has 19 of the globe's 20 biggest hotels, that fuel a bustling economy with lots of jobs for young transplants looking for their fortunes. Roughly twenty percent of the jobs within this internationally known resort destination are gaming-related. Headquartered here are Harrah's Entertainment and MGM Mirage, two of the globe's biggest gaming companies. The growth of the population within the city of Las Vegas has fueled a significant amount of construction.
