 Seats for Forklifts Carrollton - The city of Carrollton is part of three Texas counties, Denton, Dallas and Collin. This is due to its central location. It sits approximately eighteen miles north of Dallas on the Interstate Highway I-35 and is surrounded by the Texas communities; Farmer's branch is due south of the city while Coppell is to the west and Addison is to the east. Carrollton is technically a suburb of Dallas and as such is considered a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Texas State Highways 121 and 190 also service the city of Carrollton.
It is believed that the city was named after Carrollton, Illinois, the birthplace of some of it's earliest settlers. It was initially settled in the year 1840 and was incorporated by 1913. In the beginning it was exclusively an agricultural community, but when the railway lines ran through the city of Carrollton during the year 1888 it became a shipping center for livestock, grain, cottonseed, gravel and cotton. the city of Carrollton grew significantly at the end of the second World War and was later enhanced by the surplus of people arriving from North Dallas.
Carrollton City draws a wide variety of different companies due to it's central location and business cost advantages. More than 5,000 businesses are located within Carrollton City with the majority of them being involved with manufacturing, construction and wholesale trades, finance, insurance, or real estate.
The amount of developed park land is currently more than 1,230 acres, making it among the highest park land per capita in the area. The city offers several amenities to its residents, like for example two swimming facilities, two recreation centers, a senior center, homestead museum, an amphitheater and a tennis center. There are some playing fields, playgrounds, biking and hiking trails, and picnic areas scattered throughout Carrollton City. Carrollton City boasts two of the top municipal golf courses within the state.
The city's economy is kept relatively stable with a largely diversified economic base. Within the labor force, there are currently more than 71,000 people. Carrollton is home to several small business enterprises, which creates an entrepreneurial community.
In the city; there are several world class art galleries and museums, an opera, a theater, a symphony and a ballet. Sixty acres are devoted completely to the Dallas Arts District, making it the largest downtown arts district in the US.
In a 100-mile radius are around one hundred private and public golf courses and more than fifty different lakes.
There are more than 25 major shopping malls, 30 antique districts, and several unique boutiques within the city which sell an eclectic variety of gifts. There are also some malls close by, like for example Stonebriar Mall, the Dallas Galleria, and The Shops at Willow Bend. Also, the 1.9 million square foot Grapevine Mills Outlet mall is situated close by.
