Seats for Forklifts Independence - In the state of Missouri, Independence is the 4th largest. It is largely contained in the counties of Clay and Jackson and is part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The city had a total population of about 116,830 based on the 2010 Census. The city of Independence is the county seat of Jackson County. Because it was one of the departure points of the Oregon and California and Santa Fe trails, it is called the "Queen City of the Trails."

Originally the city of Independence was initially settled by Missouri and Osage Indians. Ultimately the Spanish settled along with a short tenure by people from France. The city of Independence became a part of the United States during the year 1803 with the Louisiana Purchase. In 1804, Lewis and Clark recorded that they stopped there in their journals and that they picked plums, raspberries and wild apples at a place which would later be a part of the city.

On March 29, the year 1827, Independence City was founded. It soon developed into well-known frontier township and was the farthest point westward on the Missouri River where cargo vessels or steamboats can travel. The vessels could get through this particular region due to the convergence of the Missouri River with the Kansas River. The rivers converge around six miles west of town, close to the current of the Kansas-Missouri border. Independence immediately became a jumping off point for the newly emerging fur business. The city of Independence accommodated adventurers and merchants who were starting their westward trek along the Santa Fe Trail.

Independence played an essential role in the countries history that has been reflected in its beautifully restored mansions. The Vaile Mansion for example was constructed during 1881 by Harvey Merrick Vaile, a local entrepreneur. This grand house represents one of the best examples of Second-Empire Victorian architecture within the United States. During the year 1855, the Bingham-Waggoner Estate was constructed. This was once the home of famous Civil War artist George C. Bingham. The Marshal's Home & Museum is situated inside a jailhouse which was constructed during 1859. This particular jailhouse was once home to the Jessie James brother Frank James.

One more famous house within the city is the Truman Home. It offers a glimpse of elegance and simplicity into the life of the former president. Video and audio programs are likewise featured in the Truman Presidential Museum and Library, together with numerous artifacts celebrating his pre and post presidential life, as well as during his campaign.

The head office of the Community of Christ is located within the city of Independence. This denomination is the 2nd biggest in the existing Latter Day Saint movement. The church maintains a big auditorium as well as several other buildings and also a temple in Independence. There is a big center for visitors beside the Community of Christ Temple which belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Community of Christ Temple is situated directly across the street from the original Temple Lot that was designed in 1830 by Joseph Smith.
