Seats for Forklifts Tacoma

Seats for Forklifts Tacoma - Tacoma, Washington is a port city located on the Puget Sound. This city of practically 200,000 inhabitants serves as the seat for Pierce County. Tacoma sits about 51 km southwest of the city of Seattle and 50 km northeast of the state capital of Olympia. Tacoma is the 3rd biggest city within Washington State and the business activity center for the South Sound region.

Tacoma got its name from nearby Mount Tahoma, now known as Mount Rainier, that lies approximately 93 km southeast. As the location of the Northern Pacific Railroad's western terminus during the latter part of the 19th century, Tacoma was nicknamed the "City of Destiny." The city was selected as the terminus because of its proximity to Commencement Bay, a deep-water harbor. The idea was to connect the railroad together with the shipping vessels using the bay. At present the large Port of Tacoma is one of the busiest centers of international trade on the Pacific Coastline. Currently, it is the 6th biggest shipping port within North America. The container port activities offer a huge number of jobs for the people of the region.

Commencement Bay was originally the home of the Nisqually and Puyallup tribes. European-Americans were attracted to the region because of the vast lumber resources located here. The original saw mill was established during the year 1852, and many mills were built throughout the latter half of the century.

The local economy of Tacoma has a lot of high-tech businesses. Other major economy sectors in the city consist of: agriculture and forest products, financial services, manufacturing, professional services and healthcare. Tacoma businesses offer Internet and computer services, automated fingerprint and radio frequency identification systems and satellite imaging. The region is a major producer of flower bulbs. Tourism is also important to the economy. The existing Fort Lewis Army Post and the McChord US Air Force Base has a major effect on the area.

During April, the city of Tacoma hosts the annual Daffodil Parade along with the city's of Puyallup, Sumner and Orting. Tacoma's farmers' Market is held on Thursdays during the summer season. Smaller farmers markets are held in South Tacoma and along Sixth Avenue. Fort Nisqually is a tourist attraction where tourists can watch historical reenactments. Less than 2 hours away is the Mount Ranier National Park.
