The state of Wisconsin is the leader in cheese production, producing approximately 1/4th of the nation's cheese. The state of Wisconsin places 2nd following the state of California in production of milk, and 3rd behind Vermont and Idaho in per-capita milk production. Wisconsin is second in production of butter, producing approximately one-fourth of the country's butter. The state places 1st nationwide in the production of corn for silage, cranberries ginseng, and snap beans for processing. It grows over half the national crop of cranberries and 97 percent of the nation's ginseng. Wisconsin is also a top producer of potatoes, oats, carrots, tart cherries, sweet corn for processing and maple syrup. The significance of Wisconsin's agricultural production is exemplified by the depiction of an ear of corn, a wheel of cheese and a Holstein cow on Wisconsin's 50 State Quarters design.
Commercial food processing is a big part of Wisconsin's manufacturing sectors, including brands like for example Oscar Mayer, Usinger's suasages, Tombstone frozen pizza and Johnsonville brats. Kraft Foods alone employs over 5,000 individuals within the state. The city of Milwaukee is a main producer of beer and was formerly headquarters for Miller Brewing Company, the 2nd largest brewer within the nation, until it merged with Coors Brewing Company. Formerly, Schlitz, Blatz, and Pabst were cornerstone breweries in the city of Milwaukee.

Door Peninsula is a distinctive peninsula which extends off the eastern coast of the state and contains Door County, which is one of the state's tourist spots. This County is a great boater destination, with a huge number of natural harbors, bays and ports.
